Remembering Isaac W. Anderton and Mary L. Anderton - Both Passed Away May 1925

Mary Louise Gamage Anderton  was born in Swansea, Wales on 18 Aug 1852. She maried Isaac W. Andeteron in 1888 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and Isaac ran the Anderton Boarding House located in the Strunk Block building on the corner of Main and Pine in Mackay, Idaho.

Both Isaac and Mary Louise Gamage Anderton are buried in unmarked graves at Mt. McCaleb Cemetery located at Block 82, Lot 2, N 1/2 and S 1/2.

Blast from the Past - Anderton Boarding House 1908 in the Strunk Block

The Anderton Boarding House was located on Pine Street Side of the Strunk Building toward the back (now, Ken's Club 2013). It was completed in 1908.

Don't be confused by the photo of the gentleman below, Silas A. Edrington who owned and operated the New Era Store on Main Street (later the Pilash Tailor Shop). He just happens to be standing in front of the Anderton Boarding House on Pine Street (part of the Strunk Building).

The same location in 2013 - Ken's Club. When Kenny Williams purchased the building in 1952, he and his son, Fuzzy (aka Ronald) tore the bricks off the building and added the stucco covering seen today (2013). The Williams had Ken's Club until 1975.

Pauline Strunk Chaney has incorrectly dated the photo of the inside of the Anderton Boarding house, since it was not completed until 1908.

Pauline Strunk Chaney's family moved in the front part of the second story of the Strunk Building near the same time as the Anderton Boarding House was in business.

Strunk Block from Main Street 1911. The Strunk Family lived upstairs and you can see Pauline Strunk leaning out of the 3rd window. The Barber Pole was for the Henry Williams Barber Shop.

Blast from the Past - Silas Abram Edrington, Lavina Barger Edrington, and Dorothy Ewing

Lavina Barger Edrington with Dorothy Ewing taken Fall of 1918 in Mackay, Idaho. From the Carol Tilton Collection. Dorothy Ewing's parents were Edgar Ranson Ewing and Lillie Ethel Edrington. She later married Virgil Phillips and moved to southern California.

Silas Abram Edrington had a store in this building on the south side of Mackay Main Street between Pine and Spruce called The New Era Cash Store built in 1903. 

The building was later used by Thomas Pilash Tailor.

The building shown below on Jun 25 2006. However, the building is still standing in 2013, except the eastern wall is bowing out threatening the building now, which is owned by Leonard and Pat Wall.
