Blast from the Past - Texaco Service Station 1930's to 1942

Frank "Nick" R Nickerson and Brian Hurst at the 1st Texaco Station (circa late 1930s) on the corner of Custer aka Highway 93 and Main Street.

Al West decided to raze the first Texaco Station and build a "modern" Texaco at the same location. Frank "Nick" R Nickerson was the manager and it opened in June 1941.

Below, the Mackay Rodeo Parade with the Texaco Station in the background. Note the Masonic Hall on the far right with the names of all Custer County Veterans painted on the side of the building (razed after 1983 Earthquake) and Ace's Sport Shop on the left (Ace and Sue Savaria Shinderling) which was also razed after a fire.
The Mackay Sport Shop owned and operated by Ace and Sue Shinderling is located just up Custer Street (aka Highway) to the north of the Texaco. Photos from the Nickerson Collection.
