Myrtle Fullmer, 97, passed into the arms of her Lord at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, with her loving nephew, Dean Young, at her side, on Saturday, June 5, 2010, after suffering a fall in her home earlier in the week.
Myrtle was born Sept. 9, 1912, in Gannett, Idaho, to Lemuel Marion and Jerusha Jane Young. She married Curt E. Fullmer in 1933 and raised two wonderful children.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in the Relief Society. She was a fiercely independent and strong woman who lived at her home alone doing her own cooking, dishes and laundry. Myrtle loved her family and friends and brightened any room with her easy smile and sparkling eyes. Many of her family and friends were blessed with her handiwork, as she knitted beautiful sweaters, hats and gloves, among other things.
She was an avid basketball fan, rarely missing a game. After church, Myrtle's Sundays were spent on the phone with family members who lived away from Mackay. In her earlier days, she enjoyed camping, fishing, rock-hounding and hunting for arrowheads. In the late 1970s and early 80s, she traveled around the world visiting places like France, Germany, Scotland and Hawaii. She loved her flowers and kept a vegetable garden until just a few years ago.
Mrytle is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Fullmer; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and loving nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lemuel, Angus, twins Joseph and Hyrum, Lagrand, Lealon, Rulon, twins Milton "Rusty" and Melvin, Sarah Jane, Elizabeth, Dice Elnora and Anna May "Nan"; her loving husband, Curt E. Fullmer; a daughter, Loretta Marion Ihm; a son, Curt DeWayne Fullmer; and her great-grandchild, Joshua Rex Jorgensen.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the LDS church on 531 Spruce St. in Mackay. A visitation for family and friends will be for one hour prior to the services at the church with Bishop Bart Gamett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lost River Funeral Chapel in Arco, Idaho.
