Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Jones and Casey Funeral Home, 531 Highway 93 South in Challis. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Lost River Cemetery in Moore, Idaho, with military honors. Memorials are suggested to the Safe Haven Care Center of Challis. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones and Casey Funeral Home of Challis.
Milton Savaria, 85 years of age, of Challis, Idaho, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Challis. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Moore Cemetery in Moore, Idaho with Military Honors.
Milton Savaria, 85 years of age, of Challis, Idaho, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Challis. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Moore Cemetery in Moore, Idaho with Military Honors.
Milton Albert Savaria was born August 16, 1927 in Mackay, Idaho, the son of Albert and Alta (Fitzgerald) Savaria. He grew up near the Triumph Mine just outside of Hailey, Idaho. Following graduation from Hailey High School, Milt joined the U.S. Army in September 1945. He served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He returned to Hailey and met Yvonne Comish. hey were married in Elko, Nevada in 1950. The couple made their home in Idaho and Nevada for several years while Milt worked construction. As it came time for a family, they settled down in Hailey once again. Their three daughters Mona, Danna and Julie made the complete family.
Milt continued to work in construction and for many years supplemented his income by working as a snow cat driver on Baldy as well as time spent logging and trapping. He was an excellent heavy equipment operator and was well known as one of the best diggers around.
Yvonne and Milt retired in 1983 and moved to Challis, the one place on earth meant for hunting and fishing. Milt spent the next 20 years enjoying all that the outdoors had to offer.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne of Challis; daughters Mona and Alan Brooks of Gannett, Idaho, Danna Savaria Hillman of Bellevue, Idaho and Julie Savaria of Challis; four grandchildren Tammie Brooks of Hailey, Milton and Tonya Brooks of Gannett, Jamie and Lyman Bridge of Bellevue and James Savaria of Challis; five great-grandchildren Lilianne and Parker Bridge, Abigal and Lilya Armstrong and little M.J. Brooks of Hailey due to arrive any day; brother Jim and Shirley Savaria of Twin Falls, Idaho and sister Diana Briggs of Sandy, Utah.
Milt was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Bob Briggs.
Memorials are suggested to the Safe Haven Care Center of Challis.
