Florence "Flossie" Mae Miller Johnson, 86, of Mackay, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at The Gables in Shelley.

Flossie was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Mackay to George A. and Mabel Shiffler Miller. She was the first of two children. Flossie grew up in the Little Lost River Valley, riding horses with her dad, mom and little brother, Bennie. They would spend the summers in Little Lost and the winters in Mackay.

She married the love of her life, Victor A. Johnson, on Oct. 8, 1945, in Idaho Falls. Together they ranched in the Barton Flat and Copper Basin area, where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren reside and carry on the tradition.

Flossie loved to have people over; cooking was her favorite hobby, as the hostess of the Thursday Barton Bridge Club, Tuesday Night Bible Study and many holiday parties. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Mackay Community Church and the Mt. Borah Cowbelles. She participated in 4-H and was the first Mackay Rodeo Queen.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Mae (Don) Northrop; son, Scott (Julie) Johnson; grandchildren, Jake (Heather), Caleb (Kristin) and Amy (Kolton) Kimball; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kassidy, Kinley and Victor Otto.
