Velma H. Vaden Obituary

Velma Vaden passed away August 18, 2011, in Mackay, Idaho.


Velma was the second child of 10 born to Alice Abigail Ottley and Ira Kimball Hall. She grew up in the Magic Valley area. She completed high school at 16 and began attending Albion Normal School, where she earned her teaching certificate. While at Albion, she met and married Robert Forney Vaden on May 26, 1949, in Idaho Falls. Velma and Robert lived in Idaho, Oregon and California, finally settling in Mackay in March 1963.
The mother of 8 children, Velma was the consummate sister, mother, friend and confidant. All who truly knew her kind heart, determined spirit, perennial optimism and generosity will dearly miss her.
Her living siblings, Rula Ringle of Wendell, Idaho, Ira Kimball Hall of Ammon, Idaho, Miles Hall of Riverside, Calif., Julia Dixon of Salt Lake City, Celecta Gibson of Wendell, Lewis Hall of Idaho Falls, John Hall of Wendell and Sarah Farnworth of Moscow, Idaho; and her children, Randall Robert (Ann) Vaden of Mackay, Gordon Hayes (Peggy) Vaden of Mackay, Karen Kae (Charles) Whittier of Inkom, Idaho, Roberta (Gordon) Olsen of Hagerman, Idaho, Zane (Jan) Vaden of Mackay, Miste (Dennis) Chandler of Seattle, Aleta (Bruce) Heiner of Colfax, Wash., and Cerese Vaden of Tucson, Ariz.; as well as 30 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren all mourn her passing.
A family graveside service at Mt. McCaleb Cemetery in Mackay, Idaho will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund or the Mackay EMT service.
Arrangements are being cared for by the Anderson Family Funeral Home of Arco.
