Thomas Albert "Tom" Hensley passes away August 20 2011

Thomas Albert Hensley, 75, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Lost Rivers Hospital in Arco.

He was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Yantis and Evelyn Hill Hensley. Tom graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1953. He married Deanna Howell on Sept. 7, 1957, in Pocatello. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, LDS Temple on April 24, 1969.
Tom enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country during the Korean Conflict. After returning from his military service, Tom and Deanna lived in Blackfoot, where Gary, their oldest son, was born and died shortly after birth. They were then blessed with the birth of Tom Jr., before moving to Burley, where Ted and Tonnie joined the family. They returned to Blackfoot and then moved to Pocatello while Tom worked for Albertson's as an assistant manager and then as a manager.
In 1965, they moved to Mackay, Idaho, and Tom began working for INEL. Tom loved the Mackay Valley, where he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed horses and loved being with his family and friends.
Tom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many capacities, particularly in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum, High Priest group, High Council and stake presidency. He also worked as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Tom is survived by his wife, Deanna Hensley of Mackay; his children, Tom (Kathy) Hensley, Ted (Deborah) Hensley and Tonnie Hensley; eight grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Ellis; and a stepbrother, Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents; oldest son, Gary; and a sister, Elizabeth (Beth) Wagner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Moore LDS Stake Center with Bishop Brett Williams conducting. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Mt. McCaleb Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
