On July 9, 2001, in the early morning hours, a van rolled off Highway 93 just below Whitworth's Elkhorn Ranch. The van carried members of the Denver Hmong Alliance Church on their way to the Living Waters Ranch in Challis for a religious retreat. Four members were killed instantly and the teen driver died 2 days later. What a sad loss for both their community and the people of Custer County, Idaho.
