Viola McKinley Waldron Bugg Asay Passes Away February 22 2012
Viola McKinley Waldron Bugg Asay, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, surrounded by her family in Idaho Falls.
She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Howe, Idaho, to John and Rosa Larson McKinley, the 11th of 12 children. She graduated from Mackay High School. In her youth, she actively participated in music, drama and athletics. Later in life, one rarely found her television tuned to anything but sports.
She married Walter Griffith Waldron on May 26, 1941, three weeks before he left for World War II. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Feb. 6, 1965. They were rarely apart, and she was able to join him often during his military service in the states.
After the war, they made their first home in Pocatello. They later moved to Mackay, where Walt worked as a teacher and principal for 39 years. The family enjoyed summers in the mountains of the Challis National Forest, where Walt worked for the Forest Service.
They were blessed with six children, including a son, Michael, who died shortly after birth. Walt preceded her in death in January 1985.
On June 7, 1986, she married her good friend, Clint Bugg. They lived in Shoshone, Boise and Lewisville. They enjoyed gardening, canning and decorating their home together. He passed away in October 2002.
Later she was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Royal Asay, and they married Aug. 30, 2003. He passed away in November 2009.
She worked in many occupations during her life, including clerical, retail management, and wedding planning and catering.
She was a faithful member of the LDS church and especially enjoyed many years serving as a Mia Maid advisor.
Viola's greatest joy in life was being a mother, wife and homemaker. Her home was a welcome haven for family, friends and strangers in need. It was always spotless, warm and full of love and good food. She enjoyed entertaining, sewing, cooking, and writing poetry and children's stories.
Her family extends their gratitude to the staff of Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living and Creekside Hospice for their loving care of Viola in the last years of her life.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Linda) Waldron of Twin Falls, Tim (Lori) Waldron of Boise and Rick (JoAnn) Waldron of Idaho Falls; daughters, Vicki Blackburn of Lewisville and Wendi (Drue) Plamer of Riverside; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three husbands; a son, Michael; two sisters, Mabel Fallert and Ethel Hawkes; and nine brothers, John, Patrick, Ted, Floyd, Russell, Melvin, Calvin, Art and Sylvester McKinley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Lewisville 1st Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Val Rosenberg conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Mt. McCaleb Cemetery in Mackay under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.

Lottie J. Larsen Hosford was born October 15 1862 in Stockholms Lan, Sweden. Lottie was also known as Charlotte Johanna and Johanne Charlotte. She died June 13, 1928 and is buried in the Challis Cemetery, Custer County, Idaho.

Lon Jarvis Passes Away February 16 2012
Lon Smith Jarvis, 91, of Challis, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at the Discovery Care Centre of Salmon, Idaho. He was born March 3, 1920. Jones and Casey Funeral Home of Challis.

He grew up in Hyrum and moved to Mackay, Idaho when he was 11. He attended Mackay High School, where he was the captain of the basketball team that brought home the first trophy for the Mackay High School basketball team. Following graduation in 1938 he went to work for Green’s Market.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Vivian Gentry in 1941. Lon enlisted in the Army Air Corps in August 1943 during World War II, where he was trained as a bombardier but World War II ended before he was shipped out. He returned to Mackay working at Green’s Market until 1954 at which time he purchased the market and operated the store until 1967 when he sold the store to Tom Hensley.
In 1965, he built the Devils Bedstead Guest Ranch at Wild Horse, where he worked as an outfitter guiding fisherman and hunters on his dude ranch. Vivian passed away in 1975 and in 1979 he sold the ranch and retired.
Lon moved to Garden Valley in 1977 where he was a home builder. He became quite the golfer after his retirement and enjoyed tournaments all over Idaho and Nevada clear into his late 80s.
Lon is survived by children Gerald (Phyllis) Jarvis of Mackay and Thomas (Bonnie) Jarvis of Challis, Idaho; grandchildren Theresa (Eric) Basa of Carson City, Nevada, Nancy (Allen) Casebolt of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Thomas M. Jarvis of Arco, Idaho, and Lon Shane Jarvis of Nevada; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Vivian Pauline Jarvis in 1975 and Renee Jarvis in 2009; great-great-grandson Robert Cougar Jarvis; brothers Alton and Ford Jarvis; and sisters Verrell Green and June Weber.
