On March 10, 1944, Eloise Nancy Devore Just was born to Earle and Francis Ahlers Devore in Gabbs, Nevada. She passed away unexpectedly September 26, 2011 at her home in Seabeck, Washington.
She was raised in mining communities in and around the Pahsimeroi Valley and along the Salmon River near the Challis, Idaho area.
Eloise attended Challis High School up through her junior year, where she rode the bus for 45 minutes each way to attend school. Her senior year, her family moved to Makay where she attended Mackay High School. She was valedictorian of her class and graduated in 1961.
In April 1962, she married Jack Frost, from Challis and moved to Reno, Nevada.
They had two children (Bret, Dan) then divorced after 4 1/2 years. She married Jack Ulrich, in 1966 and was with him for 22 years and children Brad, Eldon and David were born, plus they adopted Shannon. They later divorced. In 1989 she married Fred Just, who she was married to when she died.
Eloise is survived by her husband Fred and nine children: Bret (Liberty Lake, Washington) and Dan (Seattle, Washington) Ulrich from her first marriage to Jack Frost; Brad (Federal Way, Washington), Eldon (Port Orchard, Washington), David (Port Orchard) Ulrich and Shannon Amick (Belfair, Washington) from her second marriage to Jack Ulrich in August 1966 and step-children Clyde Just, Cathy Spilman and Cassandra Wildman from her current marriage to Fred Just.
Her legacy will carry on with her 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with many more on the way. Eloise had three siblings: two brothers, Frank and Carl Devore and is survived by her sister Pearl Snapp.
Eloise was very kind and giving to anyone she encountered. Being proud of her Native American heritage, she loved sharing stories with her family. Eloise was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and her family came first in all she did. She loved to fish and enjoyed all that nature had to offer. With a camera in hand, Eloise loved to document the lives of her loved ones, travels and the animals around her home.
Those close to her will always cherish the way she took time to hand write a personal note or prepare activities unique to a grandchild’s interests for their visit. Sewing was one of her indoor hobbies when the weather didn’t cooperate with her outdoor activities.
Eloise... rest in peace, your time here is done, and all of us you’ve cared about and taken care of are so thankful for your sacrifices and example. You will be missed but never forgotten.
She will be escorted by her immediate family to the cemetery in May, Idaho on Thursday, October 6, at 3 p.m. and placed to rest next her father Earle and brother Frank Devore. The family will also be hosting a remembrance of her life on October 16, 2011 at 4 p.m. at the Seabeck Conference Center, 15395 Seabeck Hwy NW, Seabeck, Washington, 98380.
