Robert (Bob) James Hauck, 68, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Lost Rivers Medical Center in Arco, Idaho.
He was born May 8, 1944, in Longmont, Colo. His father, Robert Joseph Hauck, died in World War II on Nov. 14, 1944. His mother, Betty Hauck Schell, died April 10, 2011. His parents were married in June 1942 and had him in 1944. His father was a PFC in the U.S.Army and died shortly after his birth. Bob was raised in Longmont, Colo., until he enlisted in the Navy in November 1963. He served in the Vietnam War and several other smaller conflicts.
In 1964, he married Nancy S. Brown of Keota, Iowa, and shortly after had their first child, Ann Patricia Hauck. Three years later they had a son, Robert Joseph Hauck.
For the next 25 years, he was stationed all over the world, including places such as Korea and Japan, all the while taking care of his family, even though he could not always be with them. He retired with full honors in 1990 after 27 faithful years of service.
After Navy life, he decided to move to Mackay, Idaho, to settle down and live his dream country life. In 1992, he married Joann, and they began building their life together. He lived his dream with Joann until he passed at age 68.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Deborah and Kathy; and brothers, Michael and Kenny.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; his children, Annie and Rob; stepchildren, David and Dawn; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, in the Mackay High School Auditorium, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Services are under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco.
Bob's wish was that there be no flowers, but in place, donations to the American Legion and Mackay EMTs.
