Mackay Idaho's Mine Hill Tour Stop #1: Shay Blacksmith Shop December 29 2011

The Mine Hill Preservation Committee chaired by Earl Lockie has been hard at work stabilizing the former Empire Mine Blacksmith Shop just above the Big Lost River at the former smelter site.  This is the first stop on the Mine Hill Tour (FREE and self-guided with interpretative signs). Mine Hill Tour maps are available at Mackay City Hall, Sammy's, Chevron, and many merchants in town - so, stop by for the map before heading up the Mine Hill.
Very unusual to have no snow on the ground at this time of year, December 29 2011
Mining equipment displays inside the blacksmith shop.
Same location in around 1908. The original blacksmith shop burned and was rebuilt without the cupola.
