Margery Claudine Fulton-Smith Passes Away November 29 2012

Margery Claudine Fulton-Smith, 94, of Mackay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her home of 72 years with her family by her side.
She was born March 9, 1918, in Eden, Idaho, the daughter of Bruce E. and Blanche Young Gordon. Margery was raised on the family farm in Eden and graduated from Eden High School in 1936. The following fall, she took a train from Twin Falls to Moscow, Idaho, where she attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a bachelor's degree in letters and science in 1940. Later in 1940, she married fellow University of Idaho graduate David Fulton, who was also from Eden. The newly married couple purchased a ranch from his family in Dickey, Idaho, where they spent the next 34 years together until his passing in 1974.

In 1982, Margery married Wayne Ivan Smith of Mackay. With this union, Margery gained an extended family, who she loved dearly like her own. Ivan later passed away in 1992.
Margery taught school in Moore, Idaho, for a brief time before beginning her full-time teaching career at Mackay High School in 1942. She taught English, speech, home economics and history, and was the drill team adviser and traveled all over the state with her team. When she wasn't teaching school, she was also a Red Cross certified water safety instructor who taught swimming lessons to many hundreds of kids in the Mackay/Challis area. Margery retired from teaching in 1983. She served on the Farm Home Administration Board and was elected as a director for the Lost River Electric Co-op, where she served for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, gardening, playing the piano and being an exceptional homemaker and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Fulton of Mackay; her daughter, Roxann (Steven) Olson of Wasilla, Alaska; grandchildren, Tad, Ben, David, Andrew, Chelsea, Sam, Lars and Kiowa; and a few great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother, Goss Gordon; and a son, Bruce (Lori) Fulton of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Mackay Community Church. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow services in Chilly Cemetery under the direction of Hawker Lost River Funeral Chapel in Arco.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Margery Fulton Scholarship Fund.
