Wanda Rose McCoy Muffett Passes away September 12 2011

Wanda Rose McCoy Muffett was called home by the Lord on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. She peacefully slipped away at home surrounded by family and friends.

Wanda was born in May, Idaho, on May 20, 1921, to Alfred and Effie McCoy. She was raised in the Pahsimeroi Valley until her family moved to the Mackay area in 1937.
She married Jim W. Muffett on May 18, 1940, and they moved around southern Idaho while Jim worked building roads and mining throughout Idaho and Nevada. They made their homes in Clayton, Bonner's Ferry, Mountain Home, Challis and Pioche, Nev. They returned to the Lost River Valley and built a home in Mackay. After several years, they moved to Vallejo, Calif., and then settled for many years in Camas, Wash. After Jim retired, they returned once more to the Lost River Valley, where they made their home until Jim passed away in 1997.
Wanda was active for many years in the Eastern Star, the Women's Club and the Birthday Club, and was a supporter of the Historical Society. She enjoyed being part of the Mackay Ladies Aid, crocheting and donating her projects to support the Lost River and Mackay Emergency Medical Technicians and many other groups.
She also loved doing crossword puzzles, playing pinochle and having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit. For her 90th birthday in May, we all were able to come home and have a celebration with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Muffett, and by one of her sons, John A. Muffett.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Sharon) Muffett of Mackay, Hank Muffett and Conrad Kostelecky of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Susan (John) Standefer of Vancouver, Wash., and Joan Muffett of Kimberly, Idaho. Her grandchildren include John (Daina) Muffett of Ammon, Idaho, Jason Standefer, Josh (Melissa) Standefer and Joel (Ellen) Standefer, all of Vancouver, Wash., Sara (Matt) Cameron of Draper, Utah, Chris Muffett of Ross, N.D., and Austin McNabb of Pocatello, Idaho, as well as nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin McCoy, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 15, at Lost River Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Mackay Masonic Temple, with interment at Mt. McCaleb Cemetery. There will be a light luncheon provided at the Masonic Hall following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mackay EMTs. Arrangements have been under the direction of Lost River Funeral Chapel.
